Strange Skyrim bug causes cannibal to die instantly when eating a corpse 23 Sep 2022

When they’re not creating amusingly broken potions, being chased by couriers, or going through their phone, Skyrim’s Dragonborn can often be found performing all sorts of morally dubious acts.

From engaging in combat with innocent citizens to stealing coins and even violating sacred funeral rites, all of this is enough to get the hero of the game locked up for life.

Naturally, this never happens, mainly because a game has to happen, though it seems that justice is occasionally done in Tamriel, as one hungry player on Reddit recently discovered.

Have you ever had a Skyrim cannibal game gone wrong?

His misfortune is the subject of a recent thread on the Skyrim subreddit, which began with a post from the player in question, user ZHIKIX, who shared a clip of his cannibal persona attempting to devour a murdered bandit, only to end up collapsing. about themselves, captioning it: “This man was so stale that when I took a bite out of him I died.”

Some of his fellow players immediately began to come up with amusing theories as to why this strange event had occurred, with user BanjoKrat musing: “Come on man. Always read the expiration date first,” prompting ZHIKIX to jokingly reply, “I did and it said it was good for another five days.”

Fortunately, user Sostratus was able to get to the bottom of the extraordinary eating event, citing a bug in the game that can cause low-health players to die if they consume two corpses in quick succession due to a quirk in the way the active Se apply cannibalism effects.

It seems that not many gamers are aware of this dark little tidbit, with user VillainNotHeroes saying, “Wow, I didn’t know that. I almost expected that the more bodies I ate, the effect would add up…” and S1eepyZ added, “I did a couple of quick Google searches, but no one has made a mod. [to fix] that, from what I saw.

While that specific mod may not yet exist, if you’re looking for one that makes cannibalism a bit more bourgeois, it might be worth adding modder Ebonief’s “Gourmet Cannibalism” to your mod menu.
