How to fix a flashing white light Eero

The eero home Wi-Fi system generally provides reliable service with optimal coverage. However, when there is a problem, the eero device will keep you informed through an LED status light. Eero communicates through flashing light or solid color displays; Different colors have specific meanings.

Reasons why an Eero will flash white

There are a few reasons why your eero device would flash a white light.

  • Your eero is starting up.
  • The eero software has started and is connecting to the Internet.
  • Your eero is having trouble connecting to the Internet.
  • Your eero device has been disconnected from the app.

How to fix Eero’s flashing white light

Here are a few things you can try to clear the flashing white light on your eero device after giving it a few minutes to make sure the device isn’t booting up or still trying to initialize an internet connection.

Disconnect, then reconnect the device

Try turning your eero off and on to help resolve Internet connection issues. That is how:

  1. Unplug the power cable from your eero device and wait 30 seconds.
  2. Reconnect the power cable.

Restart your network

Refresh network connections by restarting your network from the eero app. Follow these steps.

  1. Launch the eero app and go to the “Settings” tab.
  2. Click on the “Reset Network” option.
  3. Confirm that you want to restart your network.

Reboot the Eero device

Rebooting a device is a common troubleshooting step that can resolve many issues. You can reset your eero device using the app; here are the steps.

  1. Launch the application and open the “Home” tab.
  2. In the top center, press the “Online Status” button.
  3. Select the eero device that needs to be rebooted to access its options menu.
  4. Scroll down to “Reset”, then tap the “Reset” button
  5. Select “Restart eero” from the list of suboptions.

Reset the Eero device

Resetting your eero is another common troubleshooting step to help resolve crashes. You can reset your eero device by pressing the reset button. Depending on the eero model, the reset button can be found on the back, bottom, or left side of the device. Before you restart your eero, make sure it has been powered on for at least 45 seconds.

The reset button can be used to perform a hard or soft reset.

A soft reset clears all network settings from eero while preserving your sessions and keeping eero on your network. Here’s how to restart an eero.

  1. Disconnect the power cable from your eero.
  2. Hold down the reset button for 30 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cable back into your eero.
  4. Press and hold the reset button until the light flashes yellow, then release it.
  5. After a few moments, the eero’s light should return to solid white and show a green outline.
Hard reset/factory reset

On the other hand, if you are still having problems, consider resetting the eero to its factory settings. A hard reset will remove network settings, clear session and logs, and remove your eero from the network. Hard resets are ideal for resolving many chronic performance issues.

Note: All network and network settings will be deleted when you perform a hard reset on your eero gateway (the eero connected to your modem or upstream device). Eero recommends changing your gateway to another eero if you only need to reboot one device.

Here’s how to hard reset your eero.

  1. Disconnect the power cable from your eero.
  2. Hold down the reset button for 30 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cable back into your eero.
  4. Press and hold the reset button until the light flashes red, then release it.
  5. After a successful hard reset, the eero will indicate that it is ready to set up again by flashing blue.
