Are you looking to get into World of Warcraft’s latest classic expansion, Wrath of the Lich King Classic? Want to trade from the shadows? well our WotLK Rogue Leveling Guide should help you a lot to make that dream come true.
Leveling up in World of Warcraft is quite a long process. Regardless of what class you play, knowing what the best specs, talents, and even professions you hang out with can make the process a lot easier. Our guide will cover all of those details and more as you venture into Northrend.
While you’re here, if you’re interested in other Wrath of the Lich King Classic content, check out our DPS Tier List, Healer Tier List, and Tank Tier List. You may also be interested in our dungeon guides, such as our guide to Utgarde Keep.
First things first, we need to look at each of Rogue’s three specs, determine which one is best for leveling up. We’ll break down the pros and cons and make a recommendation.
Based on these three, we’re going to recommend Combat as the leveling spec. It’s high damage and the ability to deal with multiple targets, it’s perfect for solo leveling and dungeon leveling.
Next, we will take a look at the Combat Rogue leveling tree. With this tree, there are a few paths you could take. Option one is to take your points as you see them in the Combat tree, and when you get Blade Flurry, take the two points in remorseless attacks in the Kill tree. After that continue with the rest of the combat tree.
Option two is to go straight through the combat tree and pick up the Assassination talents at later levels. Either option is fine. Regardless of which option you choose, just take the required number of points in Aggression to get to Blade Flurry (along with Lightning Reflexes), and return for any remaining points in Aggression later on.
As far as professions are concerned, we recommend choosing only gathering professions while leveling up. Crafting professions are expensive, so you can level them up when you reach level 80. We recommend Skinning because it provides a huge critical hit advantage. Additionally, you can collect resources to level up Leatherworking, which is a great crafting profession for rogues.
Which other gathering profession you want is up to you, but we recommend Herbalism for a free healing spell or Mining for a passive stamina boost. The other craft profession is also up to you. Jewelry is always a great option because jewelry is very much needed in the expansion, and you can earn some extra gold by selling jewelry.
As for our glyphs, we have three major and three minor glyphs to choose from. Our major glyphs provide larger buffs for damage or survivability, while minor glyphs are for higher quality of life or smaller buffs. Here are our recommendations for those.
And that’s all we have for you! The rogue is a very difficult class to play, but ends up being one of the best DPS in the expansion. The class is also a great pick for PVP if that’s your thing. While you’re here, definitely check out our Wrath Classic PvP Tier List, as well as a few other dungeon guides, for Nexus and Culling of Stratholme.
